All internal curtains as well as blinds must comply with the new 2014 child safety standards. We are fully compliant with the 2014 child safety standards for curtains and blinds. These standards only apply to new corded tracks or corded poles but we can advise you on how to ensure your existing curtains and blinds meet the new child safety standards.

All internal curtains as well as blinds must comply with the new 2014 child safety standards.
There are several ways which you can make sure the curtains are not a hazard for children.
- 1: choose manual operation, or uncorded for any poles or tracks if possible
- 2: if you have to choose a corded pole or track, for example if the window is very large, then the cords have to be attached at each side of the curtain on the wall with a cord tensioner or tension pulley and be fitted at 150 cm off the ground
- 3: Do not leave any cots or beds near the windows where a toddler can pull on the curtains
- 4: Some advocate sill length curtains for children’s rooms but better light exclusion and blackout is achieved with floor length curtains. Floor length curtains are not inherently unsafe, it is the hanging systems.
